Our Impact

Our organization is the only one of its kind in Orlando, Florida, that houses individuals aged 21 to over 70 years indiscriminately, regardless of the factors that led them to be homeless, such as poverty, mental health issues, domestic violence, substance abuse, lack of access to education or employment, and income levels in relation to unaffordable housing.

From Homeless to Hopeful

Our flagship program was established during a house meeting with our residents. During this important meeting, our residents shared their personal experiences and financial struggles.

They spoke passionately about their desire to create a supportive and inclusive environment that could help them overcome their challenges and achieve their goals.

They also provided valuable insights on how we could improve our services and better assist them in their journey toward stability and independence.

From 2020-2023, we were able to establish two Independent Living Facilities (ILF) such as “The Bijou” which housed 12 formerly homeless women, and “Glen Lake 2” which housed 45 formerly homeless women.

In April 2024, we launched the first housing facility that the foundation owns called “The Marilyn”, that has housed at least 5 formerly homeless women as of this update.

Homeless, Not Helpless: Providing Essentials for a Better Tomorrow

This year-round campaign allows Interested donors to purchase various essentials, food and hygiene items from our online registry, which will directly go to our female residents.

Our residents live off of a very low fixed income, so any contribution to this campaign assists them in their daily needs and alleviate costs they incur.

We have made significant strides in supporting our residents with food and essential household items on a monthly basis, thanks to the funding awarded from the First Horizon Grants for Good program awarded back in June 2024.

Annual Spa Day

Since 2020 until recently in 2024, our Annual Spa Day has continued to provide services to our residents through our partner, Flowing in Harmoni Spa.

This campaign allows our residents to experience relaxation, rejuvenation and self-care in our facility, with the goal of promoting physical and mental well-being, reducing stress, and enhancing overall quality of life.

We treat our residents to a full spa day where we bring the service to them so they don’t have to leave the comfort of the home.

Toiletry Totes Campaign

In May 2020, the ToiletryTote Campaign was launched to provide essential hygiene products to homeless individuals.

After just a month, we recognized that there was a broader need for our initiative. We expanded our outreach to include healthcare providers and case managers, who played a crucial role in supporting vulnerable populations.

By providing them with our toiletry tote bags, we empowered them to better assist their clients by offering hygiene supplies. In light of the pandemic then, we took additional steps to ensure the safety of those who benefitted from our campaign.

We included hand sanitizer and face masks in each toiletry tote bag, recognizing the importance of proper hygiene practices in mitigating the spread of the virus.

The Flourished to Furnished Campaign

This charitable initiative aims to support individuals and families who are in need of new home furniture. We aim to help these individuals and families create comfortable and welcoming living spaces by providing them with quality furniture pieces that they may not have been able to afford otherwise.

A range of vulnerable groups such as single mothers, people who have recently transitioned from homelessness to having a home, and others who are experiencing financial hardship are the targets of this initiative.

Our goal is to ensure that these individuals feel supported and valued, and that they have the necessary tools to start building a better life for themselves and their families.

Make a Family Happy this Thanksgiving!

Many families in our community are struggling and unable to celebrate the cherished annual holiday of Thanksgiving.

Last year, thanks to our donors and contributors, we were able to bring joy to our residents, who faced homelessness, financial hardships, and others.

We reached out to local restaurants, companies, organizations, retail stores, and individuals in our area to pledge Thanksgiving meals for low-income families.

We were able to distribute up to 10 meals through our 2024 partners: Metro Diner Altamonte Springs, Azteca D'oro Winter Garden, Journey to Journey Housing, Rosella Saraceni, and Mary Whitehead.

Holiday Giving Campaign

With rising costs and financial strain, many families face a holiday season filled with worry rather than joy.

Through this campaign, we aim to bring the spirit of Christmas to 5-10 low-income families in Orlando, Florida, through meaningful meals, gift card support, and a shared sense of compassion.

Through partnerships with local organizations and individual donors, we plan to reach our target families, bringing them joy and easing financial stress.

Toiletry Totes and Compassion Kits

This multi-faceted initiative is designed to address hygiene insecurity among students and vulnerable populations within our community to promote health, dignity, and well-being by providing essential hygiene products to those in need.

We will target students attending five Title I schools within Orlando, Florida for the toiletry totes. Title I designation indicates a high concentration of low-income students, who are more likely to experience hygiene insecurity.

We will also distribute compassion kits to individuals in hospitals and through community partners serving populations facing homelessness, domestic violence, or other hardships.

Homes of Hope: Helping Hands for Florida’s ILFs

20+ transitional housing facilities across Florida, especially in the Orange County, are in critical need of hygiene essentials, household items & food support for the 50+ homeless individuals they house including ADF’s lady residents.

History of incarceration, discrimination, violence, trafficking & other social issues have limited their income.

Funds for this program will assist their daily needs, alleviate costs they incur & help them regain their independence and self-sufficiency.

New Home: New Source of Hope for More Women

We will operate an Independent Living Facility (ILF) by leasing a suitable housing facility. This facility will provide residents with single or shared rooms within a communal living structure, promoting both personal space and peer support.

The property will be well-maintained, safe, and equipped with needed house and operational supplies.

Regular upkeep, including repairs, utilities, maintenance, and landscaping, will be managed to provide a dignified living space.
